When Southwest Houston’s Missouri City—better known as “Mo City”—meets Kansas City, Kansas, something bigger than music happens. It becomes a moment of purpose, reflection, and connection. That’s exactly what unfolded when rising rap artist CNN Coon (born Devin McCoy) stepped inside Jegna Klub Headquarters for an unforgettable interview with the JegnaTalk For Youth By Youth interns—an experience set to air on JEGNAFEST Worldwide Radio and stream on the Jegna Klub TV Network.

From the start, the energy in the room carried a sense of intention. CNN Coon walked in “confident,” ready to engage—not just perform. What followed wasn’t just another artist interview. It was a bridge between lived experience and future potential.

A Story Rooted in Real Life

CNN Coon’s journey is one shaped by both talent and trials. Growing up in Mo City, he developed a passion for music early, influenced by Houston legends like Lil Flip and Z-Ro, while also learning firsthand from his cousin, Cellski. His music reflects the realities of urban life—pain, perseverance, and purpose. But beyond the music, it’s his transparency that left the biggest impact.

As Coach Mo shared after the session, CNN Coon was “very transparent about his issues as a teenager and being intentional to change and be 100% in music.” That honesty resonated deeply with the interns—many of whom saw pieces of their own journeys reflected in his story.

Youth Voices Meet Real Experience

For the JegnaTalk interns, this wasn’t just an assignment—it was a moment of growth. Payton, serving as Lead Interviewer, admitted he initially felt “nervous” because of the themes in the artist’s music. But that quickly changed. “He was talking a lot more than other rappers,” Payton shared, highlighting how open and engaged CNN Coon was throughout the conversation. That openness created space for something powerful: understanding.

One of Payton’s favorite moments? Hearing CNN Coon talk about “getting to do regular school for the last 2 months” after being expelled—a reminder that even artists with tough pasts still value normalcy and second chances. By the end, Payton described his experience in one word: “Enthusiastic.” Even more importantly, he walked away with a lesson: “Talk with my head up.” That’s impact.

More Than an Interview—A Coaching Moment

CNN Coon himself found value in the exchange. Reflecting on the experience, he said, “Being able to engage with the youth and share some pointers with them was cool.” And the youth noticed. “The young fellas surprised me—they were on point,” he added, clearly impressed by the preparation and professionalism of the interns. That mutual respect created an environment where learning went both ways.

Maurie, who served as Co-Interviewer, described the experience as “calm, chill, ready to get started,” but left with something deeper: “Knowing that practice makes perfect.” He added a message that perfectly captured the spirit of the day: “Go for your dreams and don’t let them go away.”

Energy, Love, and Purpose

Behind the scenes, the support system played a key role in shaping the experience. Manager Devonte Kenneybrew summed it up simply: “It was a wonderful experience… the energy, the love.”

Coach Keyron Kimbrough echoed that sentiment, noting how rare it is for artists to go “in depth” the way CNN Coon did. His favorite part? “Questions that had him reflecting about his past.” That reflection turned the interview into something more meaningful—a space for healing, growth, and perspective.

Turning Pain Into Purpose

CNN Coon’s story isn’t without hardship. One of the most defining moments in his life came from witnessing the tragic loss of a close friend in a motorcycle accident. It’s experiences like these that shape his music—and his message. Rather than letting adversity define him, he’s using it as fuel.

That message didn’t go unnoticed by the interns. It aligned perfectly with the mission of the Jegna Klub: to build youth for the future by providing real-world learning experiences rooted in authenticity.

“Productive” and “Accomplished”

When asked to describe the day in one word, CNN Coon said: “Productive.” His manager chose: “Accomplished.” Those words speak volumes. Because what happened inside Jegna Klub Headquarters wasn’t just content creation—it was community building. It was life coaching. It was youth seeing what’s possible when you stay focused, learn from your past, and move with purpose.

The Bigger Picture

Through platforms like JegnaTalk For Youth By Youth and JEGNAFEST Worldwide Radio, the Jegna Klub continues to create spaces where young people don’t just consume media—they create it, lead it, and learn through it. And when artists like CNN Coon step into that space with authenticity, the result is powerful.

This wasn’t just an interview. It was a reminder that no matter where you come from—Mo City or The Dotte—your story matters. And when shared with intention, it can inspire the next generation to rise.
