CONNECTING

THE DOTTES

About Connecting The Dottes

A quality job makes it easier to live in healthier neighborhoods, access quality education, childcare, nutrition- all of which impact health. Career exploration and technical education solidifies the connection between increased student academic achievement and future endeavors.

The Connecting The Dottes Programs are for youth in grades 3-12. They prioritize career exploration, workforce development, workforce literacy, S.T.E.A.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics), and technical education by blending real-world learning experiences, client-connected projects and support services. Youth establish effective relationships with industry professionals in an environment that focuses on post-secondary preparedness which enhances a student’s chances to succeed in today’s labor market and live a healthy and productive life.

Market value assets (MVAs) are recognized as skills acquired in high school that create a more seamless transition from school to postsecondary college and career readiness. They represent student experiences that provide significant scope of real-world problem-solving, communication and collaboration with people beyond the school walls.

Elementary school is the perfect time for students to start exploring careers and being introduced to S.T.E.A.M. This program is all about self-discovery and helping children make sense of the world. Career development is a lifelong process that begins in childhood and has been linked to increased graduation rates and post-secondary student success.
