New Shoes For Ray Ray Brings Redemption and Real Talk to Jegna Klub: KC Rapper Inspires Youth Through Music, Faith, and Activism

Updated: 1 day ago

By Levi Lee

Kansas City rapper and activist Lil Ray Ray (Ray Hill aka New Shoes For Ray Ray) made a powerful impact during his December 27, 2025 visit to Jegna Klub Headquarters, where he sat down with the JegnaTalk For Youth By Youth interns for an interview that will air on JEGNAFEST Worldwide Radio and stream on Jegna Klub TV Network.

From the moment he walked in, Ray’s energy was contagious. “I was excited,” he admitted before the interview, adding later that the experience left him feeling “ignited.” His anticipation was clear: “I’m anxious to see results.”

A Conversation That Went Beyond Music

The interns didn’t just talk beats and bars—they explored Ray’s life story, his activism, and his faith. Lead interviewer Bryan Ordaz Ramos shared, “I was excited because I was getting to interview another rapper, but during the interview I felt stunned because of the stories he told me of his time in solitary confinement.” Bryan called the experience “Redemption in Action,” explaining, “It shows turning past mistakes into positive action that helps others.”

Co-interviewer Delano echoed that sentiment: “I was feeling good, no problem. My favorite part was asking him questions.” For Delano, the biggest takeaway was learning to connect with “more people from different places.”

Faith, Resilience, and 21 Years Behind Bars

Ray’s openness surprised even the coaches. Keyron Kimbrough admitted, “I was unsure what type of person he would be—reserved, loud, etc.—but I was very surprised at how open he was and his connection to God.” Keyron’s favorite part? “His jail stories from when he did 21 years.” He summed up the experience in one word: “God, because like Ray Ray said, it’s all cause God.”

Activism in Action: Shoes for the Unhoused

Beyond music, Lil Ray Ray is making headlines for his grassroots activism. Through his New Shoes for Ray Ray initiative, he’s collecting and distributing shoes to unhoused individuals in Kansas City—a mission born from personal experience. “Many people wear through their only pair,” Ray explained in a recent feature, emphasizing that a fresh pair of shoes can restore dignity and hope.

Why This Visit Matters

For the JegnaTalk interns, this wasn’t just an interview—it was a masterclass in empathy, storytelling, and community engagement. As Bryan put it, “I learned that open-ended questions get better answers.” And for Ray, it was about planting seeds of change: “Meeting the teens” was his favorite part of the day.
