When the KC Turner High School Boys Basketball Team walked into Jegna Klub Headquarters, the energy was immediate — a mix of nerves, confidence, laughter, and pride. The visit marked a special moment for both the team and the JegnaTalk: For Youth By Youth interns, as the players and coaching staff sat down for an in-depth interview to be featured on JEGNAFEST Worldwide Radio, syndicated on 152+ stations globally, with the full interview streaming on Jegna Klub TV Network across platforms including Roku, Apple, Amazon, and Google. The interview wasn’t just about basketball. It was about culture, connection, and growth, both on and off the court.
Changing Culture, Building Identity
Head Boys Basketball Coach Vincent Rolls, a lifelong Wyandotte County native with over 17 years of coaching experience, made it clear that his mission at Turner High School extends beyond wins and losses. Now in his second year as head coach, Rolls shared that his goal is to change the culture of Turner High Boys Basketball — creating accountability, unity, and pride.
Watching his players engage with youth interviewers in a professional media setting stood out most to him. He reflected that seeing them interact “outside of the court was great,” noting how valuable it was for the athletes to express themselves in a new environment. He also praised the Jegna Klub space itself, describing it as “well kept and the crew was nice,” creating a welcoming atmosphere that allowed him and his players to open up.

From Nerves to Confidence
For senior point guard Sedric Scott (#3), the experience began with a mix of excitement and nervousness. “I was excited but I was kind of nervous,” he admitted before the interview. By the end, that nervous energy had turned into confidence. He described the overall experience as “great because I feel that it was a great experience,” even sharing a moment where he got to impersonate his coach — a highlight that brought laughter across the room.

Michael Marshall (#2), a versatile guard known for his defensive strength, felt nervous at first because he had never done an interview like this before. But the atmosphere quickly shifted. “I feel good now, it was really chill,” he shared afterward, describing the vibe as relaxed and welcoming — right down to enjoying the food at Jegna Klub.

Meanwhile, Tyland McGee (#22) came in confident and ready. A vocal leader with a powerful mid-range game and physical playing style, Tyland embraced the moment fully. He summed up the day as a “great day,” explaining that he was able to be himself, make people laugh, and feel noticed. Being surrounded by teammates and sharing stories made the experience both meaningful and fun.

Youth Interviewers Creating Real Connection
Behind the microphones and cameras, JegnaTalk youth interns played a critical role in setting the tone.
Keyron Kimbrough, who supported the interview as one of the Jegna Klub Coaches, shared that his favorite part happened before the cameras even rolled. “Getting to know them organically” stood out to him, allowing authentic conversation to form before formal questions began. He noted being especially surprised by Tyland’s personality and energy.

Tech support intern Teon Ingram valued the opportunity to hear directly from the team, taking away an important lesson: “Even in hardship, keep pushing.” For him, it was inspiring to see how hard the players worked toward their goals.

Lead interviewer Bryan Ordaz Ramos thrives on meeting new schools and coaches, and this interview was no different. While he felt calm and relaxed throughout, he was surprised by Michael’s energy and humor. One of his favorite moments came from simply laughing during the interview, describing the experience as “funny… he made my day.”

Co-interviewer Payton Towers, a Turner Elementary alum, felt a personal connection to the guests. He was excited going into the interview and surprised by the number of stories the players shared about Coach Rolls. For him, the experience was “amazing,” both educational and enjoyable.

More Than an Interview
This visit to Jegna Klub Headquarters was more than a media appearance. It was a chance for student-athletes to practice communication, reflect on their journeys, and represent their school with pride — all while being interviewed by peers who understand their world.
As JEGNAFEST Worldwide Radio prepares to spotlight the interview and Jegna Klub TV Network readies the full broadcast, one thing is clear: the KC Turner High School Boys Basketball program is building something special. Through leadership, teamwork, and authentic youth voice, this interview captured a snapshot of a team growing together — confident, motivated, and ready for what’s next.
