Kansas City, KS smiles and applause filled the room at Welborn Elementary School on October 30, 2025, as George Bush, a fifth grader, was recognized as the J.E.G.N.A. Klub Student of the Week Award winner. The award, presented by the honorable Judge Tony Martinez, drew more than 90 students and several community partners into a celebration of character, leadership, and academic promise.

Principal Collette Chaney, who nominated George for the honor, described him as someone who “brightens the day for everyone around him” through his warm smile, respectful attitude, and genuine kindness. She cited his integrity, maturity, and consistent willingness to help classmates as proof that he “does the right thing—not for recognition, but because it’s who he is.”
In his own remarks, George beamed as he accepted the honor. Though quiet by nature, his enthusiasm and joy were evident. Observers noted that his classmates were animated with pride, and Keyron “Keyz” Kimbrough, Award Coordinator, said, “the number of kids in the audience and how much they supported their classmate … it was just awesome.”
Chris Dunlap, community partner and financial educator from Nu Wall Street, underscored the importance of recognition in young lives: “Seeing student excitement today confirmed just how powerful this award can be. It promotes peer respect and motivation like nothing else.”

Judge Martinez reflected on the moment, noting that George’s quiet but radiant smile spoke volumes. He praised Principal Chaney’s dedication, saying it was “a privilege to join such a proud and determined educator committed to her students and their future.”
George accomplishments extend beyond kindness—he is a diligent learner who approaches school with curiosity and resolve. His integrity and caring spirit, Principal Chaney says, makes him a role model not just for his classmates, but for the entire school community.

In addition to the award, George and his nominator received a Stockpile “Any Stock” Gift Card and an eBook, From Teen to Millionaire: A Guide for Young Investors, by Chris Dunlap of Nu Wall Street. They are also invited to attend the next Economic Independence Academy Workshop on Wednesday December 10, 2025 hosted by the Jegna Klub in partnership with Nu Wall Street, Eastside Innovation and Kansas City Kansas Schools Foundation for Excellence, where topics will include investing, real estate, and financial literacy.

The J.E.G.N.A.
