Jegna Klub and truththereason.com are collaborating with Mayor Garners Office to help empower youths to become who and what they want. Each week we will recognize a Kindergarten through college student who is not only excelling academically, athletically (not required), behaviorally, and in attendance, but is also not afraid to stand up and out to take the lead in word and action; not only for their future, but for their school and their community!
This week our EGO (Empowerment Grows Opportunities) Jegna Klub Student of the Week is Sydnee Peghee an 8th grade student at Piper Middle School in the Piper School District. Sydnee has taken it upon herself to lead her fellow students in creating field trip opportunities on top of the already planned field trips that her teachers arrange. She helps tie those trips to the curriculum to ensure they are meaningful. Currently, she is helping plan a trip to the botanical gardens. Also, Sydnee serves on our Student Site Council where she helps present student ideas on how to improve the school. Most recently Sydnee and the rest of the student site council put together a new lunch seating assignment paradigm and have sent a survey to improve the social aspects of the lunchroom. - Nominated by Principal Tim Leffert
